In what areas have you worked since joining Commnity Legal Aid, and what is your present role?
I have worked in family law (divorces, custody and civil protective orders), housing and community lawyering (generalized/holistic). Currently, I am on our Parenting Project, Neighborhood Law Project and Tenant Assistance Project.
Why did a career in legal aid appeal to you?
I used to work in broadcast journalism, and influencing people's stories and lives for the better began to appeal to me more than just telling the story or remaining in the middle. I've always had an interest in working in social justice and civil rights.
How do your clients inspire you?
Their perspectives challenge me, and their resilience and generosity inspire me.
What do you want people to know about the work you do/the clients you serve?
I take my work home with me. This kind of work is not something I just switch off at the end of the day; their stories impact me and deeply affect how I move through the world and influence the things I care about. I spend many nights thinking about my clients and the injustices they face and sincerely hope my work is a reflection of how much I want to see a continuously better world for all of us.
