Why did a career in legal aid appeal to you?
The purpose of legal aid, to provide meaningful and effective representation for impoverished people, is very important to me. I wholeheartedly believe that the services we provide, protecting and preserving the rights of the underrepresented and marginalized, is vital to ensuring that our judicial system is functioning in a fair and unbiased manner.
How do our clients inspire you?
Many of our clients face significant struggles on a daily basis but yet they keep pushing forward and persevering.
What do you want people to know about the work you do/the clients you serve?
I want people to know that the work we do is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT! We live in a world where wealth and status is worshipped. Those who are wealthy are more highly valued/revered while the impoverished population are looked down upon and viewed as expendable and unworthy of compassion, empathy and fair treatment. I believe that our country was founded on the ideals that everyone is created equal. I believe that just because you are a member of a lower tax bracket does not make your contribution to society any less significant and everyone deserves to be heard, respected and have their rights protected.
