Community Legal Aid Offers Free Workshops and Clinics in March

Community Legal Aid is offering free workshops, programs and clinics to anyone who may need legal assistance or who has an interest in these legal topics. All programs are taught by attorneys and are free.

Learning Is For Everyone (LIFE) – Tuesday, March 12, 5:30 p.m. at Child Guidance ad Family Solutions, 18 N. Forge Street, Akron. This free school advocacy workshop for parents and guardians of school children describes the educational services available for local school children. Parents/guardians learn how to work with their children's schools to ensure they receive the appropriate support. Refreshments and children's activities will be offered. Veterans’ Legal Clinic (Youngstown) – Free legal support for issues such as housing or foreclosures, family law, debt collection, bankruptcy, taxes, veterans’ benefits, record sealing, immigration, wills, and powers of attorney, Wednesday, March 13, 9 a.m. at the Youngstown VA Outpatient Clinic, 2031 Belmont Avenue, Youngstown. Homeowner Information Class (Stark County) – Thursday, March 14, 5-6:30 p.m. at the Stark Main Library, 715 Market Ave. N., Canton. Free and open to the public, this class covers mediation preparation, foreclosure, mortgage payment challenges and solutions.

 

Veterans’ Legal Clinic (Canton) -- Free legal support for issues such as bankruptcy and debt, domestic violence, health, housing, public benefits, record sealing, federal taxes, simple estate planning and more, Monday, March 18, 9 a.m. at the Canton VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic, 733 Market Avenue South, Canton. For an appointment, call 330-761-7054, option #4. Legal Outreach Clinic (Wayne County) – Wednesday, March, 20, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Wooster Community Action, 905 Pittsburgh Avenue, Wooster. Legal Aid advocates will be onsite providing information about Legal Aid services, answering legal questions and conducting intake interviews at this free session open to the public. This clinic is offered as part of a partnership with Community Action of Wayne and Medina Counties and supported by the United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties, United Way of Orville, and the Wayne County Community Foundation.

Break the Silence – Advocate Training – Thursday, March 21, 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center, 215 S. Depeyster Street, Kent. Open to anyone who works with victims of violence, stalking or assault, this one-day conference focuses on identifying and protecting vulnerable populations. Job OpportunIties: A Taft Promise Neighborhood felon-friendly job fair, Thursday, March 28, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at OCCHA - Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana Inc., 3660 Shirley Road, Youngstown. Legal Aid will provide help with drivers license suspensions and other legal obstacles to employment. Skilled  trades will be represented in this community partner event.
