Legal Aid offers free legal workshops and programs in January

 

Community Legal Aid is offering free workshops next month to anyone who may need legal assistance or who has an interest in these legal topics. All programs are taught by attorneys and are free and open to the public.

Legal Aid at Taft Elementary School (Youngstown) – Tuesday, Jan. 8, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., Taft Elementary School, 730 E. Avondale Ave. Free and open to residents of the Taft Promise Neighborhood. Meet with a Legal Aid attorney to discuss your legal needs and see if you qualify for assistance. To schedule an appointment call 330-362-8350.

Veterans Legal Clinic (Canton) -- Monday, Jan. 14, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Canton VA Outpatient Clinic, 730 Market Avenue S., Canton. Free to veterans and their families, this clinic provides help with legal issues, including housing or foreclosures, family law, debt collection, bankruptcy, taxes, veterans benefits, record sealing, immigration, wills, and powers of attorney. Divorce Clinic: Learn how to represent yourself (Mahoning County), Wednesday, Jan. 16, 9-10 a.m.. Free and open  to those who qualify. Registration required. To apply call our HelpLine.

 

Veterans’ Clinic (Youngstown) – Wednesday, Jan. 16, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Youngstown VA Outpatient Clinic, 2031 Belmont Ave., Youngstown. Free and open to military veterans and their families, this workshop provides assistance with legal issues including housing and foreclosure, family law, record sealing, immigration, wills, powers of attorney, veterans’ benefits, bankruptcy and taxes. Veterans are encouraged to bring a copy of their DD-214 or VA ID to the clinic.Appointments and walk-ins are accepted. To make an appointment, call 330-740-9200, ext. 1570.

Free and open to the public, this workshop covers such issues as foreclosure, mortgage payments, programs to help homeowners keep their homes, and others. Attendees are encouraged to bring related paperwork.

Divorce Clinic: Learn how to represent yourself (Trumbull County) – Wednesday, Jan. 23. (Times vary and will be specified during pre-registration.), held at Legal Aid’s Trumbull County Office, 160 E. Market Street, Suite 225, Warren.  Free and open to those who qualify, this clinic is designed to educate clients on the divorce process and help them complete the forms required to petition the court for a divorce.  To apply, call 800-998-9454
