Legal Aid Workshop Encourages Parents to be Advocates for their Struggling School Children
Community Legal Aid Managing Attorney Marie Curry readies children’s books for Legal Aid’s Learning Is For Everyone (LIFE) workshop. The free workshop, designed to help give parents a road map to accessing school resources best for their children, takes place tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 13, 6-8 p.m. at the Findley Community Learning Center, 65 West Tallmadge Ave.
The right resources for struggling students are often just a request away, says Legal Aid Supervising Attorney Andrew Neuhauser. However, knowing what to ask for can present the biggest hurdle, he says “We see parents are often intimated by the process of accessing the right education services available to them,” says Neuhauser.
Families that register for the workshop at www.communitylegalaid.org/life or text SCHOOL to 77453 will receive a free children’s book at tomorrow’s program. Refreshments and children’s activities will also be available.
