Volunteer Opportunities

Jerome L. Holub Bankruptcy Project

Low income families often have fragile budgets with little or no room for medical care or car repairs. Bankruptcy may be necessary to stabilize the family after the unexpected happens. In collaboration with the Akron Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and Consumer Law Section, VLSP developed the Jerome L. Holub Bankruptcy Project to provide pro bono assistance for simple, no asset bankruptcies in Summit County.

Law Students involved with this program assist in interviewing potential clients, gathering informal discovery, drafting advice letters, conducting legal research, meeting with clients and developing client files prior to referral to private attorneys.  Students also have the opportunity to prepare bankruptcy petitions and attend 341 hearings.  This is an ongoing opportunity with rolling applications.

Summer Intern Program

Summer Interns are expected to work unpaid for at least 10 weeks and may work up to 13 weeks.
