Pop-up clinic offers free legal advice at senior summit
Legal Aid to work with qualifying walk-ins
Those attending this weekend’s Senior Summit Expo at Firestone High School will have the chance to seek free legal advice.
Legal Aid advocates will be onsite at the event, sponsored by the Summit County Probate Court, and will be available to meet with qualifying attendees.
“More and more, we’re seeing a need to meet people where they’re at, out in the community,” said Steven McGarrity, Legal Aid’s executive director. “It’s just so much more convenient for our clients if we come to them. So, when the Probate Court approached us about offering this clinic as part of their event, we were thrilled.”
Walk-in attendees who qualify for help will have the opportunity to ask legal questions and seek advice on a number of issues, including:
- Consumer and financial issues
- Domestic violence
- Family law matters, like custody and visitation
- Housing issues
- Public benefits
- Wills and estate planning
Legal Aid will be one of many organizations at the Summit, sharing resources and services with senior residents and their families.
